We demonstrate the implications of a lack of monitoring and due diligence practices in companies
We were present at the conference “The impact of trade agreements on relations between the European Union and South America”, at UFMG.
Our researchers presented an expanded summary resulting from our research on the need for due diligence in production chains in Brazil. Its title was “Implications of the lack of due diligence in the supply chain of European companies for the Brazilian Amazon”.
We demonstrated the implications of the lack of monitoring and due diligence practices in companies for the environment and human rights in Brazilian biomes, especially the Amazon.
We also explained some steps that countries, mainly in the European Union, have begun to take towards developing standards and mechanisms to compel companies to adopt better business practices in this area.
The event was promoted by the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence at UFMG in partnership with the Erasmus + program, coordinated by Professor Dr. Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz.
