ILAJUC’s primary objective is to promote environmental and social justice in Latin America, recognizing the close relationship between Law, Climate and Environment. We firmly believe that protecting the environment and guaranteeing human rights are interdependent and indivisible elements. We work to promote socio-environmental responsibility for corporations, governments, civil society and universities, building institutional networks and innovative productions that can foster a sustainable future for the Latin American continent.
Transparency and Sustainability Project
We are developing a research project in partnership with the Climate and Society Institute (ICS) on the debate on corporate due diligence for Brazil.
We know that the actions of companies, through their supply chains that have a presence in Brazil, especially in the context of agribusiness, sometimes negatively impact Human Rights and the Environment. We seek to understand which business procedures and practices place corporate due diligence as a central axis of business so that companies that operate here, whether through direct exploration or the purchase and financing of this exploration within their production chains, are aware of the socio-environmental context in which they operate and ensure their sustainable presence in the market.

Due Diligence: Beyond Compliance with the Law.
Our research provides the necessary context to understand the concept of Due Diligence, as well as new international legislation on the subject, and to outline a legitimate understanding of companies’ responsibilities regarding risks at each stage of the value, production and supply chains.
